It started with stereolithography technology in 1984 – the technology used UV lasers to solidify photopolymer for creation of 3D parts layer by layer. The process was invented by Chuck Hill. Another guy, Fried Vancraen, made unique non-computer FDM models and later became the leader of a famous 3D printing company – one of the first.
